Schritt für Schritt

1. Draw a centering cross on your wooden ring to create four quadrants. ▶ watch 24:00
2. Secure the ring in place with tape and glue to prevent it moving during assembly. ▶ watch 24:15
3. Cut paper squares in blue and white, using pencil lines to guide placement up to the marked lines. ▶ watch 24:30
4. Glue the blue paper into the first quadrant, allowing slight imperfections as they will be covered. ▶ watch 24:45
5. Glue the white textured paper into the next quadrant. ▶ watch 25:00
6. Continue filling all four quadrants with alternating blue and white paper. ▶ watch 25:30
7. Turn the ring over and press down firmly to ensure all sections are secure. ▶ watch 26:00
8. Use a craft knife on a cutting mat to trim around the outer edge of the ring. ▶ watch 26:30
9. Trim around the inner edge of the ring with the craft knife. ▶ watch 27:00
10. Fold blue rope in half to find the midpoint and tie it with string at the centre. ▶ watch 28:30
11. Wrap string around the rope multiple times to secure it in place. ▶ watch 29:00
12. Create loops at each corner by pulling the rope out to your desired loop size. ▶ watch 29:30
13. Tie off each loop with string and wrap additional string around the joins to hide them. ▶ watch 30:00
14. Cross the final two rope ends and tie them with string to create the top hanger loop. ▶ watch 31:30
15. Wrap string around the final corner join to complete the rope detailing. ▶ watch 32:00
16. Cut a circle of paper slightly larger than the ring aperture to create a background panel. ▶ watch 34:30

Tipps aus der Show

• You can use a nail file to create a rustic edge on the ring if you prefer that look instead of a clean cut.
• Personalise the ring by stencilling children's names onto it instead of the HMS Have a Go logo.
• This project works well with different colour schemes—you can create a red version or choose any colours you prefer.
