Textured Mixed Media Card with Stencils and Stamps

Layer texture paste with sand, acrylic paint, stencils and stamps to create a sophisticated card with multiple dimensions. The result looks complex but uses simple, forgiving techniques.

Pas à pas

1. Apply white texture paste to your background, using the sand texture version for added interest ▶ watch 16:00
2. Colour the texture paste by mixing in acrylic paint – dark blue works well ▶ watch 16:15
3. Apply the coloured texture paste in just certain places rather than covering everything ▶ watch 16:30
4. Use stencils to add more layers and detail on top of the texture paste ▶ watch 16:45
5. Stamp flowers onto the textured background using ink pads ▶ watch 17:00
6. Colour in the stamped flowers with watercolours or other mediums ▶ watch 17:15
7. Mount the finished piece onto card to complete ▶ watch 17:30

Astuces de l'émission

• You don't have to use the whole stencil or stamp – pick out just the bits you want
• It looks like there are loads of layers but really you've only done a few simple steps
