Pigment Ink Stencilled Background with Embossing Powder on Black Card

A striking technique using pigment ink through a stencil on black card, layered with coloured embossing powder to create a vibrant, dimensional background. The pigment ink stays wet longer than dye ink, allowing the embossing powder to adhere beautifully and create rich, blended colour effects.

Pas à pas

1. Place your stencil on black card stock. ▶ watch 36:00
2. Apply pigment ink through the stencil using a dabbing motion, pushing the colour through evenly. ▶ watch 47:15
3. Dry the inked area with a heat gun until completely dry. ▶ watch 48:30
4. Sprinkle embossing powder (such as one with gold fleck or coloured undertones) over the wet ink area. ▶ watch 48:45
5. Heat set the embossing powder with your heat gun until it melts and fuses to the ink. ▶ watch 49:30
6. For deeper colour, allow to cool, replace the stencil, and repeat the process with another layer of pigment ink. ▶ watch 50:00
7. Dry and emboss again to build up rich, layered colour. ▶ watch 50:15

Astuces de l'émission

• Pigment ink sits on the surface of the card and stays wet longer than dye ink, making it ideal for embossing techniques.
• You can layer pigment ink multiple times, drying between layers, to build up increasingly vibrant colour.
• Pigment inks are opaque, so they work beautifully on black card stock where dye inks would be invisible.
