Pas à pas

1. Mask off the edges of your card blank with low-tack tape to create a crisp border and secure your stencil. ▶ watch 1:45
2. Position the Over the Hills stencil onto the masked card, ensuring the design sits within the stencil area. ▶ watch 2:30
3. Apply the blue Mer du Sud ink pad to the stencil using a brush, building up tone with lighter application in the centre and darker at the edges. ▶ watch 3:00
4. Apply the purple Cassis ink pad around the edges of the stencil to create a darker frame and add depth to the design. ▶ watch 4:30
5. Carefully remove the stencil and tape to reveal the blended blue and purple background. ▶ watch 5:30
6. Cut around the stencil outline using scissors to create a shaped card panel. ▶ watch 6:15
7. Glue coordinating patterned paper behind the shaped panel to create a backdrop layer. ▶ watch 7:15
8. Stamp the elephant and rabbit characters from the Elephantastic range using Versafine black ink. ▶ watch 8:15
9. Watercolour the elephant with grey wash, adding darker tones under the chin and arms using the Miya Himi palette. ▶ watch 9:45
10. Colour the elephant's overalls in dark blue and purple to coordinate with the background inks. ▶ watch 10:45
11. Add pink to the elephant's ears and purple to the large balloon, then blue to a second balloon. ▶ watch 11:45
12. Add pink details to the rabbit's feet and heat-set the watercoloured images to dry. ▶ watch 12:00
13. Die-cut the stamped and coloured elephant and rabbit characters using complementary dies. ▶ watch 15:00
14. Adhere the large elephant to the centre of the shaped panel and raise the rabbit on foam pads above it. ▶ watch 16:30
15. Stamp sentiment text onto paper strips using Versafine black ink, angling the cuts for a less formal look. ▶ watch 18:30
16. Edge the sentiment strips with black ink pad to add definition and help them stand out from the card. ▶ watch 20:15

Astuces de l'émission

• Hold the stencil down firmly and brush with straight motions rather than circular ones to prevent the stencil from moving.
• You can rotate the stencil around to use different areas of the design for variety.
• Angle your sentiment cuts rather than cutting straight lines to hide imperfect cutting.
