Flutterby Butterfly Card with Layered Stencils and Embossing

Create a beautiful multi-layered butterfly card using the Flutterby Quattro D system. This project demonstrates all four stages of the system—layering stencils, coordinating stamp, 3D embossing folder, and die-cutting—to build a dimensional butterfly design with vibrant colour and metallic embossed details.

Schritt für Schritt

1. Gather your white card and the first numbered stencil (number one). Position the stencil in the corner of your card, using the heart registration marks to align it if needed. ▶ watch 17:15
2. Select a teal ink pad and brush colour through the first stencil using a stencil brush, building up the colour gradually. Add darker tones to create depth and dimension in the veins. ▶ watch 18:15
3. Move to stencil number two and line it up in the corner. Brush pink ink through this stencil to add the next layer of the butterfly's wings. ▶ watch 20:00
4. Apply stencil number three (the eye details) and brush pink ink through, adding darker pink in the centre to create an ombré effect in the eyes. ▶ watch 22:15
5. Use stencil number four with yellow ink to create a halo around the eye area, then apply stencil number five with darker pink for the centre of the eyes. ▶ watch 23:30
6. Stamp the butterfly image onto the card using the coordinating stamp and metallic copper embossing ink. Ensure all detail is captured by stamping firmly. ▶ watch 26:00
7. Dust the stamped image with anti-static powder, then apply metallic copper embossing powder over the entire stamped design. ▶ watch 27:00
8. Heat set the embossing powder with a heat gun until the powder melts and becomes shiny and dimensional. ▶ watch 31:00
9. Position the 3D embossing folder with your card, ensuring the front is marked. Run the card through your die-cutting machine to create the dimensional embossed butterfly. ▶ watch 32:45
10. Die-cut the butterfly wings using the left and right wing dies separately, allowing you to create half-wing effects or keep the butterfly within the page by not fully connecting the dies. ▶ watch 37:00

Tipps aus der Show

• You can revisit earlier stencil layers and add sparkle paste over them for extra shimmer without starting over.
• The wing dies are designed in two parts to give you versatility—use them separately for half-wing cards or together for full butterflies.
• Keep your Quattro D products in their original packaging to see the visual guide and QR code for inspiration, rather than decanting into separate storage.
