Embossed and Inked Daisy Meadow Card with Die-Cut Topper

Create a striking card by embossing the Daisy Meadow design onto white cardstock with selective ink application, then die-cut the embossed design to create a dimensional 3D topper with a clean edge. This technique combines embossing and die-cutting to produce a professional, shop-bought quality finish.

Step by step

1. Insert a piece of white cardstock into the centre of the Daisy Meadow embossing folder. ▶ watch 2:15
2. Apply ink to the raised elements of the embossing folder using an ink pad, selecting colours of your choice (the demonstrator used blue and purple tones). ▶ watch 2:45
3. Lay the inked cardstock over the design inside the embossing folder. ▶ watch 3:00
4. Close the embossing folder and run it through your die-cutting machine using the correct plate recommended by the manufacturer. ▶ watch 3:30
5. Remove the embossed cardstock from the machine to reveal the 3D embossed image with colour detail in the flowers. ▶ watch 4:00
6. Take the coordinating die that comes with the set and position it around the embossed design to outline a section of the pattern. ▶ watch 4:45
7. Run the die and cardstock through your cutting machine to cut out the embossed design with a clean, precise edge. ▶ watch 5:00
8. Remove the die-cut embossed topper from the cardstock. ▶ watch 5:45
9. Adhere foam pads to the back of the die-cut topper to create dimension. ▶ watch 6:00
10. Attach the dimensional topper to your card base to complete the design. ▶ watch 6:15

Tips from the show

• Embossing folders are durable and can carry ink and paste; simply clean them off after use to maintain their quality.
• If you lose some 3D dimension when die-cutting, run the embossed cardstock back through the embossing folder to restore the detail.
• Play with colour and step outside normal colour choices to create unique and interesting results.
