Vibrant Layered Stencil and Die-Cut Card with Embossing

A multi-layered card using stencils, new water-reactive ink pads, die-cuts and an embossing folder to create a dimensional, brightly coloured floral design. The finished card features bold colour blocking with a raised, textured finish.

Step by step

1. Position stencil one on your mat, ensuring the number is at the top for correct orientation. ▶ watch 28:30
2. Apply bright colour through the stencil using the new mini cube ink pads, working with bold, juicy coverage. ▶ watch 29:00
3. Set stencil one aside and position stencil two on your mat. ▶ watch 29:45
4. Apply a contrasting colour through stencil two, layering it over the first stencil's design. ▶ watch 30:15
5. Continue with stencil three, adding another colour layer to build up the design. ▶ watch 31:00
6. Apply stencil four with a final colour, completing the four-layer stencil sequence. ▶ watch 31:30
7. Stamp the large coordinating stamp over the stencilled design using black or contrasting ink. ▶ watch 37:45
8. Place the stamped and stencilled piece into the embossing folder with the raised side facing the back. ▶ watch 42:30
9. Run the piece through your embossing machine to create a dimensional, puffy finish. ▶ watch 43:00
10. Mount the embossed piece onto a white card base and add a sentiment in the centre. ▶ watch 43:45

Tips from the show

• The new water-reactive ink pads are very juicy and require minimal dabbing to pick up colour.
• You can emboss before or after die-cutting; there is no right or wrong order.
• Consider cutting some elements out separately and layering them for a decoupage effect.
