Watercoloured Wicker Basket Embossed Card with Sparkle Spray

Create a textured card using the wicker basket embossing folder with watercolour cardstock, dual-coloured inking, water spray and sparkle spray. This demonstrates how to achieve different effects by inking both sides of an embossing folder and adding water and sparkle for dimension.

Step by step

1. Brush blue ink pad over one side of the wicker basket embossing folder. ▶ watch 50:45
2. Brush abandoned coral ink pad over the other side of the embossing folder. ▶ watch 51:00
3. Spray the inked embossing folder lightly with water to soften the fibres and create texture. ▶ watch 51:15
4. Place your watercolour cardstock into the embossing folder and run it through your die-cutting machine. ▶ watch 51:30
5. Spray the embossed card with sparkle spray for added shimmer and dimension. ▶ watch 51:45
6. Allow the card to dry completely. ▶ watch 52:00
7. Trim the embossed card to size, removing any excess or messy edges. ▶ watch 52:30
8. Adhere the embossed panel to a card base, positioning it as a focal point or accent. ▶ watch 53:00

Tips from the show

• Embossing folders wipe clean, so don't worry about damaging them when brushing ink pads over them.
• Spraying with water softens the card fibres and creates a textured, bleached effect.
• You can play embossing folders up or down—use them as a full focal point or as a subtle background accent.
