Embossed Stencil Background with Die-Cutting Machine

Create a textured background by running a stencil through an electronic die-cutting machine with embossing shims and mirror card. This produces a beautifully raised, dimensional design perfect as a card base.

Step by step

1. Select a piece of 300 gsm mirror card as your base material. ▶ watch 48:15
2. Place the stencil on top of the mirror card. ▶ watch 48:30
3. Add an embossing shim to the setup. ▶ watch 48:45
4. Run the stencil, card, and shim through your electronic die-cutting machine to create an embossed impression. ▶ watch 49:00

Tips from the show

• You can sand back the embossed design with an emery board if you prefer a more vintage appearance.
