Layered Peony Stencil Card with Mixed Florals

Create a beautiful multi-layered card using three stencil layers from the Plush Peony stencil set, combining pink and purple inks with a gold glitter paste top layer. The result is a dimensional, blended floral design that looks professionally hand-painted.

Step by step

1. Take a square piece of card and position the first stencil layer (number one) in the corner, checking the number is facing the correct way. ▶ watch 18:30
2. Apply pink oxide ink through the first stencil layer using a pouncing motion with a sponge, covering the entire stencil area. ▶ watch 20:00
3. Remove the first stencil and position the second stencil layer (number two), lining up the hearts to create the next layer of the flower. ▶ watch 21:30
4. Apply purple ink through the second stencil layer using a pouncing motion, building up the colour and dimension. ▶ watch 22:00
5. Position the third stencil layer (number three) and apply gold glitter paste through it using a pouncing motion for the final detailed layer. ▶ watch 24:00
6. Allow the gold glitter paste to dry completely before proceeding. ▶ watch 25:00
7. Die-cut the stencilled design using the coordinating die, ensuring the die fits seamlessly around the image. ▶ watch 35:30
8. Mount the die-cut flower onto a white card base using foam pads for dimension. ▶ watch 37:30
9. Adhere a sentiment die (such as 'Woohoo') to the card using foam pads. ▶ watch 42:30
10. Add sparkly sequins or beads to the card for extra embellishment and sparkle. ▶ watch 43:30

Tips from the show

• Use the less detailed stencil layers first and save the most detailed for last, as paste goes through more easily on the final layer.
• If the stencil doesn't line up perfectly, it's forgiving in design—the bleed technique creates a natural, hand-painted effect.
• You can swap out the third layer for texture paste or glitter paste instead of ink for varied effects.
