Black Embossing Folder Card with White Pigment Highlight

Create a quick, striking card by brushing white pigment over an embossed black card to highlight the raised 3D details. This fast technique produces elegant results perfect for Christmas cards.

Step by step

1. Prepare a black card that has been embossed with your chosen embossing folder. ▶ watch 43:30
2. Load a brush lightly with white pigment from an icing embossing ink pad. ▶ watch 43:45
3. Use circular motions to brush the white pigment lightly over the entire embossed surface. ▶ watch 44:00
4. Dust the white pigment over the wispy or delicate parts of the embossing to enhance those details. ▶ watch 44:30
5. Optionally, use a gold or silver pigment ink pad to add highlights to specific areas for extra sparkle. ▶ watch 44:45
6. Mount the finished embossed card onto a coloured card base using glue. ▶ watch 45:00
7. Add any word dies or toppers as desired to complete your card. ▶ watch 45:15

Tips from the show

• Use a light hand when brushing on the white pigment to avoid obscuring the embossed details.
• This technique is quick and works well if you prefer not to spend time on detailed painting.
• You can enhance the edges of the flowers by blending with your finger, as the pigment is still workable.
