A project from our live show CREATE AND CRAFT - Join Helen Kirkham for the latest SBM products and demo's - broadcast 27th April · 27/04/2022
Create a beautiful card featuring a dove stamp with a soft watercolour background. The lamination technique allows you to build layers—a watercolour background, then a detailed outline stamp on top—to achieve a professional artistic look without needing advanced painting skills.
Select your dove outline stamp and place it on your stamping press, inked with your chosen colours (pinks and blues suggested).
Spritz the inked stamp with water using a spray bottle to create a watercolour effect.
Press the stamp onto watercolour card, allowing the water to move the ink naturally across the surface.
Dab away excess water with a tissue to control the watercolour effect.
Re-ink the stamp with more prominent colour (pink suggested) and press again to add depth to the middle of the design.
Layer the detailed outline stamp on top of the watercolour background, positioning it slightly off-centre for an artistic effect.
Dry the card with a heat tool if needed before adding your sentiment.
Stamp your chosen sentiment onto the card using the same technique.
Mount the finished design onto black cardstock using adhesive to create contrast and make the colours pop.
Add optional doodle details, such as an olive branch in the dove's mouth, using a pen or fine marker.
Share your make with the Stamps By Me community - and keep this guide for next time.
