Watercolour Dove Card with Lamination Stamps

A project from our live show CREATE AND CRAFT - Join Helen Kirkham for the latest SBM products and demo's - broadcast 27th April · 27/04/2022 · watch it from 18:45

Create a beautiful card featuring a dove stamp with a soft watercolour background. The lamination technique allows you to build layers—a watercolour background, then a detailed outline stamp on top—to achieve a professional artistic look without needing advanced painting skills.

Step by step

  1. Select your dove outline stamp and place it on your stamping press, inked with your chosen colours (pinks and blues suggested). ▶ watch 19:00
  2. Spritz the inked stamp with water using a spray bottle to create a watercolour effect. ▶ watch 19:15
  3. Press the stamp onto watercolour card, allowing the water to move the ink naturally across the surface. ▶ watch 20:00
  4. Dab away excess water with a tissue to control the watercolour effect. ▶ watch 20:15
  5. Re-ink the stamp with more prominent colour (pink suggested) and press again to add depth to the middle of the design. ▶ watch 20:30
  6. Layer the detailed outline stamp on top of the watercolour background, positioning it slightly off-centre for an artistic effect. ▶ watch 21:00
  7. Dry the card with a heat tool if needed before adding your sentiment. ▶ watch 23:00
  8. Stamp your chosen sentiment onto the card using the same technique. ▶ watch 23:15
  9. Mount the finished design onto black cardstock using adhesive to create contrast and make the colours pop. ▶ watch 23:45
  10. Add optional doodle details, such as an olive branch in the dove's mouth, using a pen or fine marker. ▶ watch 24:30
