A project from our live show CREATE AND CRAFT LIVE - Join Helen Kirkham - broadcast 8th April - show 2 · 08/04/2022
Combine watercolour card stock with ink spraying and die-cutting to create a delicate floral card. The technique layers coloured backgrounds with precisely cut die shapes to produce an elegant, artistic finished piece.
Cut watercolour card stock to A5 size or smaller to fit through your die-cutting machine.
Spray distress inks onto the card stock in your chosen colours, creating a loose, organic background.
Dry the inked card completely using a heat tool before proceeding.
Feed the watercolour card through your die-cutting machine with the coordinating die, pressing firmly as watercolour card is denser than standard cardstock.
If the die doesn't cut completely on the first pass, run it through the machine again—this is normal with thicker card stocks.
Carefully remove the die-cut piece from the card, preserving any embossed details created by the die.
Stamp additional details onto the die-cut piece using black ink and a coordinating stamp set.
Add embellishments such as glitter or sequins to the stamped details if desired.
Adhere the finished die-cut piece to a card base, positioning it centrally or as a focal point.
