Step by step

  1. Run the botanical wings border die through your die-cutting machine with white cardstock to cut the large floral border design. ▶ watch 17:30
  2. Remove all the small cut-out pieces from the die-cut border to reveal the full design. ▶ watch 20:00
  3. Cut the beaming smile jar die twice from white cardstock to prepare for the layering technique. ▶ watch 23:15
  4. Glue the first die-cut jar piece onto white cardstock using a glue stick, keeping it flat. ▶ watch 29:00
  5. Colour inside the flower details with oil pastel pencils, starting with red and adding orange to create shading and dimension. ▶ watch 30:15
  6. Blend the coloured pencil marks together using the same orange pencil to create a smooth gradient effect. ▶ watch 31:30
  7. Glue the second die-cut jar piece directly on top of the first to hide the coloured imperfections underneath. ▶ watch 32:00
  8. Prepare a black card base and add white side panels with gold trim to create the card foundation. ▶ watch 33:00
  9. Glue the botanical wings border panels to the sides of the white panels, butting the edge lines up to the gold trim. ▶ watch 34:30
  10. Trim away any excess border that overhangs the card edge using scissors or a craft knife. ▶ watch 36:45
  11. Position the layered flower jar die-cut on the card front and glue in place using foam pads for dimension. ▶ watch 38:30
  12. Add the 'kind friends' sentiment die-cut to the side of the card, positioning it to hang slightly off the edge like a tab. ▶ watch 40:00
