A project from our live show MONDAY MADNESS - Join Simon from AVAGO-INK for his latest show - Broadcast 28th March 22 · 28/03/2022
A cheerful Easter-themed card featuring three decorated eggs in different colours with dinosaur characters emerging or hatching from them. The eggs are embellished with stencilled patterns and the dinosaurs are hand-painted in complementary colours.
Create an egg template by drawing around a circular die, then freehand the pointed top and curved sides to form an egg shape.
Cut three egg shapes from coloured card (blue, yellow, and pink).
Glue blue and green card strips to your card blank to create a sky and grass background.
Position the stencil over the first egg and dust with blue ink using a brush, ensuring all detail areas are covered.
Repeat the stencilling process on the second egg, positioning it in a different direction and using pink/red ink.
Stencil the third egg in a different direction again, using orange ink to complement the yellow card.
Edge each stencilled egg with the same ink colour using the ink pad directly to soften the cut lines.
Draw crack lines on the back of two eggs where dinosaurs will emerge from the sides, and draw a line across the top of the third egg.
Cut out the crack sections to create openings in the eggs.
Paint a green dinosaur with a light green wash, then add darker green shading to the spikes, feet, and facial features.
Paint a blue dinosaur with a light blue wash, then add darker blue shading and details.
Add a red stripe down the green dinosaur's tummy to break up the colour area.
Fussy-cut around each painted dinosaur to remove the white background.
Glue the dinosaurs behind the egg openings, positioning them so they appear to be hatching or emerging.
Cut small black card pieces to fill the gaps behind the dinosaurs where they emerge from the eggs.
Glue the eggs onto the card base, using foam tape on the centre egg for dimension.
