A project from our live show Join Simon for Monday Madness broadcast 7th March 22 · 07/03/2022
An elegant adult-oriented card featuring a gold embossed bamboo grass background with a striking black and red colour scheme, embellished with two handmade three-dimensional paper fans. The design creates an oriental aesthetic perfect for any occasion.
Cut a strip of black card that will fit on your card base and place it on your stamping platform.
Ink the large bamboo grass stamp with black dye-based ink and stamp it across the centre of the black card strip.
Rotate the stamp and stamp it again at the top of the card strip, creating a graduated effect.
Stamp the bamboo grass image again at the bottom of the card strip, ensuring all detail is crisp.
Cover the entire stamped image generously with gold embossing powder, ensuring all inked areas are fully covered.
Tap off the excess embossing powder back into the container.
Heat the embossing powder with a heat gun until it melts and creates a shiny, raised finish on all the bamboo details.
Mount the embossed black card strip onto red card, creating a coloured border all around.
Mount the red-backed strip onto white card, creating another border to frame the design.
Cut a piece of red plain paper measuring three inches by six inches (half of a six-by-six pad).
Ink the small decorative edging die stamp and stamp it across the top of the red paper strip.
Stamp the edging design again just below the halfway mark of the paper strip.
Fold the stamped paper strip into a concertina by folding it back and forth along each stamped line, alternating directions.
Continue folding until you reach the end of the paper strip, creating multiple pleats.
Staple the concertina fold at one edge to hold the fan shape together.
Apply glue around the stapled edge to reinforce the fan structure.
