Slimline Card with Layered Embossed Floral Design and Die-Cut Spotlight

A project from our live show Join Toni for her LIVE show broadcast Tuesday 15th Feb - Yep it's going to be TECHNIQUES · 15/02/2022

Create an elegant slimline card featuring a large tropical floral background stamp with clear and gold embossing on layered cardstock. The design uses nesting circle dies to create a spotlight effect, with the die-cut pieces layered with 3D pads to add dimension and showcase the matching embossed pattern beneath.

Apply gold embossing powder to this stamped image and heat set with an embossing gun.

    ▶ watch this step 26:30
  6. 6

    ▶ watch this step 31:00
  7. 7

Tape down the die positions on the pink cardstock to prevent the dies from shifting during cutting.

    ▶ watch this step 33:30
  8. 8

Run the taped cardstock through your die-cutting machine to cut out the nesting circles.

    ▶ watch this step 33:45
  9. 9

Layer the cut pink piece on top of the gold-embossed white piece, aligning the designs so the gold embossing shows through the die-cut circles.

    ▶ watch this step 34:30
  10. 10

Apply 3D foam pads to the back of the die-cut piece, using multiple pads and cutting some in half to support delicate details and prevent sinking.

    ▶ watch this step 35:00
  11. 11

Add a washi tape strip along one edge of the card and attach a sentiment using foam pads for dimension.

    ▶ watch this step 39:30
