Step by step

  1. Prepare four pieces of white cardstock in different sizes with matte and layers to create your layered base. ▶ watch 29:45
  2. Position the four pieces on your card base in an offset pattern, placing them in different corners rather than symmetrically. ▶ watch 31:00
  3. Secure the pieces with low-tack tape to prevent them from moving whilst you stamp. ▶ watch 31:30
  4. Ink up your stamp and press firmly onto the first layered piece, ensuring the design reaches into all the crevices. ▶ watch 32:45
  5. Repeat the stamping process on all four pieces, pressing down with body weight to transfer the full design. ▶ watch 33:30
  6. Heat set all the stamped pieces with a heat gun to dry the ink. ▶ watch 34:30
  7. Paint the first stamped piece with watercolour in a tealy blue colour around the edges of the design. ▶ watch 35:45
  8. Paint the second piece in pink watercolour, covering the stamped areas with colour. ▶ watch 36:45
  9. Paint the third piece in coral or orange watercolour, again focusing on the stamped design areas. ▶ watch 37:30
  10. Leave the fourth piece unpainted or paint it in a contrasting colour. ▶ watch 38:00
  11. Once the watercolour is dry, begin layering the pieces onto your card base, starting with the first painted piece. ▶ watch 38:30
  12. Layer the remaining pieces on top, offsetting them slightly so the designs marry up and create the kaleidoscope effect. ▶ watch 39:30
  13. Use a fine-liner pen to add any missing stamped details or shadows where the design hasn't transferred clearly. ▶ watch 43:30
  14. Stamp a sentiment such as 'Congratulations' across the base of the card in black ink to complete the design. ▶ watch 46:15
