Floral Decoupage Card with Dinosaur Accent

A layered card featuring a large stamped floral panel with fussy-cut flowers, inked with blended greens and reds, and a cheeky dinosaur head peeking through from behind the foliage. The card combines stamping, decoupage, and mixed media techniques for a playful, textured effect.

Step by step

1. Place mixed media paper onto your stamping platform and secure with magnets. ▶ watch 1:45
2. Stamp the large floral image from the Friends Forever stamp set onto the paper, pressing firmly to capture all the detail. ▶ watch 2:00
3. Stamp the image again in the same area to deepen the colour and ensure crisp detail. ▶ watch 2:45
4. Rotate the paper and stamp the two smaller floral images from the same stamp set, positioning them to avoid overlapping. ▶ watch 3:45
5. Fussy cut around the edge of the large floral panel, keeping the border loose and relaxed rather than precise. ▶ watch 4:45
6. Cut out the two individual flower images from the stamped panel, following the petal lines closely. ▶ watch 6:15
7. Ink the large floral panel using blended dye inks in verdigris and emerald green, dabbing and pushing the ink pad onto the paper to create layered colour. ▶ watch 8:30
8. Spritz the inked panel lightly with water and push down to blend the colours together. ▶ watch 9:00
9. Ink the two individual flowers using blended dye inks in cassis and grenadine, using the same dabbing and blending technique. ▶ watch 10:30
10. Heat gun the inked pieces to dry them thoroughly. ▶ watch 11:45
11. Stamp the 'Friends Forever, never apart' sentiment onto a pink card base using black ink and emboss with black embossing powder. ▶ watch 13:15
12. Glue the large inked floral panel onto a black layer, then mount onto a grey card base. ▶ watch 18:00
13. Add foam pads under the green layers to create dimension and lift them away from the base. ▶ watch 21:15
14. Position and glue the individual inked flowers onto the card, then add the dinosaur head tucked behind the foliage as a playful accent. ▶ watch 22:00

Tips from the show

• Turn the card rather than the scissors when fussy cutting for better control.
• You can go back into the stamp pad multiple times until you're happy with the result.
• Foam pads keep elements secure at the edges so they won't catch in envelopes when posting.
