Stamped and Watercoloured Floral Card Page

Create a layered card page by stamping floral designs, masking elements, and building up the image with watercolour and pigment inks. This technique creates dimension and allows you to layer stamps without muddy colours.

Stap voor stap

1. Stamp your main heart design onto the page using pigment ink. ▶ watch 37:30
2. Create a mask by fussy cutting a duplicate of your stamped element to use as a protective layer. ▶ watch 38:00
3. Position the mask over your stamped heart and stamp your flower design on top, creating the illusion of layering. ▶ watch 38:30
4. Remove the mask to reveal the flower appearing in front of the heart. ▶ watch 39:00
5. Fussy cut additional pre-coloured flower elements and position them on your page with glue. ▶ watch 39:30
6. Use a water brush to apply watercolour paint over your stamped and glued elements, creating soft colour washes. ▶ watch 40:00
7. Add shadow definition around each element using a darker watercolour or pencil, applied just to one side. ▶ watch 40:30
8. Once dry, use a white gel pen to add highlights such as cheeks, eye dots, and light reflections to bring elements to life. ▶ watch 41:00
9. Add a dark background colour or shadow behind your main elements to make them pop forward on the page. ▶ watch 41:30

Tips uit de show

• Because pigment inks are permanent, you can layer watercolour over them without the colours muddying or bleeding.
• You don't have to fussy cut every element; you can mask off different stamp layers as you go to build up your image.
• Adding white highlights with a gel pen after colouring creates dimension and makes your artwork look more finished.
