Create a stunning 3D owl card using heat embossing techniques with an ornate owl stamp design. The card features a white heat-embossed owl on craft cardstock, layered with a black card base and white insert, finished with dimensional padding and hand-drawn details for a realistic flying effect.

1. Prepare your craft-coloured cardstock and use an anti-static tool on the area where you'll stamp to prevent powder particles from sticking to unwanted areas. ▶ watch 1:15
2. Ink up the large ornate owl stamp design and press firmly onto the craft cardstock, going over it twice to ensure all the deeply etched details are picked up clearly. ▶ watch 1:30
3. Pour white embossing powder onto the wet stamped design, covering it completely. ▶ watch 2:15
4. Flick off any excess embossing powder from the cardstock. ▶ watch 2:30
5. Heat set the design with an embossing heat gun, holding it at a distance and moving it around until the powder melts and becomes shiny and bright. ▶ watch 2:45
6. Stamp the sentiment 'freedom is being you without anyone's permission' in black ink onto the craft cardstock below the owl design. ▶ watch 4:00
7. Carefully cut around the owl image with scissors using detailed cuts to accentuate the outline. ▶ watch 4:45
8. Use a white gel pen to highlight certain areas of the owl's wings and details to enhance the dimensional effect. ▶ watch 5:00
9. Gently curl and lift the owl's wings and tail slightly upwards to create a realistic flying appearance. ▶ watch 5:30
10. Mount the craft cardstock piece with the white heat-embossed owl and sentiment onto a white insert card. ▶ watch 5:45
11. Adhere the white insert card onto a black folded note card base. ▶ watch 6:00
12. Apply a foam pad behind the body of a second heat-embossed owl layer and position it slightly offset on top of the first owl to create a 3D shadow effect. ▶ watch 7:00
13. Gently nip and twist the wings of the top owl layer for added dimension. ▶ watch 7:15
14. Use a white gel pen to add small white dots in clusters of three around the owl to fill open spaces and add detail. ▶ watch 7:30

Tips uit de show

• Use an anti-static tool before stamping to keep embossing powder neat and prevent it sticking to unwanted areas.
• The hotter your embossing heat gun, the fewer lumps and bumps you'll get in your finished design.
• Always heat set your embossing powder or it will brush off the cardstock.
