Multicoloured Embossed Panel on Brushed Gold Cardstock

Layer multiple embossing powders in gold and complementary colours on a brushed gold cardstock panel to create a rich, textured effect. Stamp a white-inked flower image on top for added dimension and detail.

Step by step

1. Cut a piece of brushed gold cardstock and apply sticky embossing ink to a central rectangular panel area. ▶ watch 22:45
2. Sprinkle regular gold embossing powder over the inked panel and tap off excess. ▶ watch 23:00
3. Heat set the gold powder with a heat gun. ▶ watch 23:15
4. Allow to cool, then apply sticky embossing ink again to the same panel area. ▶ watch 23:45
5. Sprinkle a contrasting colour embossing powder (such as a complementary shade) over the inked area. ▶ watch 24:00
6. Add thick gold embossing powder on top for additional depth and richness. ▶ watch 24:15
7. Tap off excess powder carefully. ▶ watch 24:30
8. Heat set this layered powder mixture with the heat gun. ▶ watch 24:45
9. Allow to cool completely. ▶ watch 25:00
10. Ink the flower stamp with white pigment ink. ▶ watch 25:15
11. Apply sticky embossing ink over the cooled embossed panel. ▶ watch 31:00
12. Sprinkle thick embossing powder generously over the inked area. ▶ watch 31:15
13. Heat set the powder with the heat gun. ▶ watch 31:30
14. Whilst still warm, press the white-inked flower stamp firmly into the embossed surface to create an impression. ▶ watch 32:00

Tips from the show

• Use thick embossing powder for better depth and definition when stamping into the embossed surface.
• Allow each heat-set layer to cool before applying the next layer of ink and powder.
• Work quickly when stamping into the warm embossed powder to capture the best impression.
