Ombré Heart Stencil Card with Heat Embossing

A striking card featuring an ombré heart created with stencil and ink layering, finished with heat-embossed gold sparkle detail and a sentiment. The distressed stencil edge gives an artistic, non-symmetrical look.

Step by step

1. Position the heart stencil on your cardstock. ▶ watch 50:15
2. Apply pink ink through the stencil using a large brush, working from the top of the heart. ▶ watch 50:20
3. Blend orange ink into the middle section of the heart, overlapping with the pink. ▶ watch 51:00
4. Add yellow ink to the lower portion of the heart to complete the ombré effect. ▶ watch 51:30
5. Remove the stencil and allow the ink to dry slightly. ▶ watch 52:00
6. Apply anti-static powder over the heart area to remove any moisture from the inks. ▶ watch 52:30
7. Stamp the lady and gentleman silhouette in black ink over the heart using heat-set ink. ▶ watch 53:00
8. Apply gold embossing powder over the black stamped image. ▶ watch 54:00
9. Heat set the embossing powder with a heat gun until it melts and becomes shiny. ▶ watch 54:15
10. Mount the finished panel onto a card base and add a 'with love' sentiment. ▶ watch 56:00

Tips from the show

• The stylised stencils have a rough, rugged edge which works beautifully with reflective designs as reflections aren't sterile.
• Using anti-static powder helps remove moisture from wet inks before heat embossing.
• You can swap between artistic watercolour effects and bold sparkly embossed finishes using the same stamps and stencils.
