Step by step

  1. Cut one piece of patterned paper to 6 by 8 inches from your 8 by 8 pad. ▶ watch 4:00
  2. Score the paper at 4 inches in one direction, then turn it around and score at 3 inches to create fold lines. ▶ watch 5:15
  3. Fold the paper along both score lines to create creases. ▶ watch 5:45
  4. Using scissors, cut up one score line from the edge to the centre point. ▶ watch 6:00
  5. Fold the paper so the cut sections overlap, creating a pocket in the centre. ▶ watch 6:30
  6. Glue along the back and top edges to seal the pocket closed, leaving the centre pocket open for inserting items. ▶ watch 7:30
  7. Cut two pieces of foundation paper to 4 by 4 inches each. ▶ watch 9:00
  8. Score each 4 by 4 inch square at 1 inch on all sides to create hinged pages. ▶ watch 10:00
  9. Optionally punch a circular hole near the fold line to indicate there is a pocket behind. ▶ watch 10:45
  10. Glue only the left, bottom and right edges of the first hinged page to the front cover, leaving the top open so items can slide behind. ▶ watch 11:45
  11. Glue the second hinged page to the back cover in the same way, creating another pocket. ▶ watch 12:30
  12. Create a closure band by cutting a strip from the leftover 6 by 8 inch offcut, wrapping it around the album with enough grace to accommodate the bulk of items inside. ▶ watch 13:45
  13. Fussy cut floral elements from patterned paper offcuts to decorate the front cover. ▶ watch 14:45
  14. Glue the fussy-cut florals to the front cover and add additional paper pockets inside pages for extra embellishment. ▶ watch 20:00
  15. Insert tea bags, seeds, gift tags or other small items into the various pockets throughout the album. ▶ watch 24:15
