Oriental Geisha Watercolour Stamped Card

A project from our live show BRAND SHOWCASE - AVAGO-INK - Join us for this much loved event where the SMALL brands get to shout LOUDEST - Broadcast 4th Nov 22 · 04/11/2022 · watch it from 32:30

Step by step

  1. Stamp the geisha image onto cardstock using a dye ink pad, concentrating on getting a clear impression of the flowers first. ▶ watch 34:45
  2. Reposition the stamp and stamp the same image again in a different colour to create layered depth and variation. ▶ watch 35:15
  3. Use the watercolour palette to paint the stamped flowers with pink, starting with the flower areas and filling in the details. ▶ watch 36:30
  4. Blend blue watercolour into the painted areas, following the direction of the lines and filling gaps between the flowers. ▶ watch 37:00
  5. Add purple watercolour to deepen the colours and create shadows, particularly in the flower areas and around the geisha's features. ▶ watch 37:45
  6. Paint the hair with a skin tone watercolour, keeping the colour light and pastel rather than too dark or saturated. ▶ watch 38:30
  7. Add teal blue watercolour to selected areas to enhance the design and create colour harmony throughout the card. ▶ watch 39:00
  8. Die-cut the painted design with a shaped edge die, ensuring the image is centred and not overlapping the die plates. ▶ watch 40:00
  9. Glue the shaped design onto a gold cardstock layer, then mount this onto a blank card base. ▶ watch 40:45
  10. Attach the finished design to the card using foam pads to create dimension and allow the watercolours to stand out. ▶ watch 48:00
