Step by step

  1. Lay down abandoned coral ink onto white card stock using a blending brush, creating a smooth base colour. ▶ watch 12:15
  2. Add squeezed lemonade yellow ink over the coral, blending the colours together by layering them over each other without worrying about transition lines. ▶ watch 12:45
  3. Add rusty hinge ink as a third colour to give the background variation, continuing to blend all three colours together smoothly. ▶ watch 13:30
  4. Use the first stencil with walnut stains distress oxide ink to create a defined stencilled image, applying more pressure to the brush for stronger colour. ▶ watch 15:15
  5. Position the second stencil with the large wing design on the other side of the card front and apply walnut stains ink. ▶ watch 17:45
  6. Fill the remaining edges around the larger wing with the abstract scripting element from the stencil to create a collage effect. ▶ watch 18:45
  7. Die-cut the solid butterfly die from the inked card panel to create an aperture, then back the aperture with acetate and foam tape to create a raised window. ▶ watch 20:30
  8. Spray squeezed lemonade and pearly winx gold shimmer spray inside the butterfly aperture to coordinate with the card front. ▶ watch 21:30
  9. Add a customised mix of gold sequins and glitter into the centre of the card before sealing the raised aperture. ▶ watch 23:00
  10. Die-cut the detail butterfly from dark brown card and glue it over the shaker aperture for added dimension. ▶ watch 26:00
  11. Cut words from the washi tape and stick them onto the card to add sentiment. ▶ watch 27:45
