Step by step

  1. Place the first stencil onto your cardstock, aligning the registration hearts in the corners as guides. ▶ watch 8:45
  2. Pounce a dye-based ink pad through the stencil using a sponge, working gently to avoid frustration. ▶ watch 9:00
  3. Remove the first stencil and position the second stencil, aligning the hearts with the ink marks you've already made. ▶ watch 9:30
  4. Apply a darker or contrasting ink colour through the second stencil, pouncing to add depth to the petals. ▶ watch 10:00
  5. Place the third stencil for the flower centre, using an orange or yellow ink to create the focal point. ▶ watch 11:00
  6. Pounce the centre colour carefully, being mindful of any delicate detail areas. ▶ watch 11:30
  7. If you see any white gaps, use a brush to fill them in with matching colour for a seamless finish. ▶ watch 12:00
  8. Consider adding a fourth layer using the same stencil but with a different colour (such as purple) to create a duotone halo effect around the centre. ▶ watch 13:00
  9. Once dry, use the coordinating die to cut out the flower for dimension and impact on your card. ▶ watch 13:30
