A vibrant, multi-coloured lily card using the Lovely Lily stencil set with three layers. The technique demonstrates how changing colours between layers and using different positioning creates a dynamic, three-dimensional flower that appears to pop from the page.

Step by step

Place the first Lovely Lily stencil onto your cardstock. ▶ watch 40:45
Pounce a colour (such as pink or purple) through the stencil using a sponge dauber, working across all the petal areas. ▶ watch 41:00
Remove the stencil and observe the textured base layer—don't worry if it looks uneven, as subsequent layers will cover it. ▶ watch 41:30
Align the second stencil layer and pounce a contrasting or darker colour through to add dimension to the petals. ▶ watch 42:00
Remove the second stencil and position the third stencil, which contains the delicate stamen centres. ▶ watch 42:30
Pounce a third colour (such as orange or brown) through the centre stencil, being careful with the delicate detail areas. ▶ watch 43:00
For variation, you can position the stamen stencil in different locations on the same flower to create multiple centres or different formations. ▶ watch 43:30
Once all layers are complete and dry, use the coordinating die to cut out the finished lily for added dimension. ▶ watch 44:00

Tips from the show

Follow the natural lines of the stencil design when pouncing to maintain the 3D appearance.
Be gentle with intricate areas—pouncing rather than dragging prevents damage to delicate elements.
You can create multiple different-looking lilies by changing the colour combinations and stamen positions.
