3D Hanging Basket Card with Layered Foliage

Create a dimensional hanging basket card using die-cut foliage in multiple shades of green and brown, layered to create depth and perspective. The finished card features realistic 3D hanging baskets with flowers and varied foliage heights.

Step by step

  1. Select two shades of green cardstock from your paper pad and cut the foliage dies, ensuring you have multiple pieces for layering. ▶ watch 34:00
  2. Cut the same foliage dies a second time in a darker green shade to create variation in your hanging basket. ▶ watch 34:30
  3. Cut the pot bases from brown cardstock, selecting multiple pot pieces to build your basket structure. ▶ watch 36:00
  4. Cut additional foliage pieces in brown from the same dies to create depth and prevent waste. ▶ watch 36:30
  5. Prepare a white or cream card blank as your base, trimming it to a suitable size for your design. ▶ watch 38:00
  6. Layer your first green foliage piece onto the card base using glue, positioning it at the back. ▶ watch 42:00
  7. Layer your second green foliage piece in front of the first, tucking it in at a different level to create dimension. ▶ watch 42:30
  8. Adhere your brown pot base on top of the foliage layers, positioning it to sit naturally within the arrangement. ▶ watch 43:00
  9. Add the flower die-cuts in pink, positioning them at varying heights within and around the basket. ▶ watch 44:00
  10. Apply ink blending to the background using a blending brush and blue ink to create a halo effect around your basket. ▶ watch 56:00
  11. Flick water droplets across the inked background to create texture and soften the appearance. ▶ watch 57:00
  12. Add flower centres and embellishments such as gems or sequins to complete your hanging basket design. ▶ watch 59:00
