Shaped Card with Stencilled Background and Character

Create a shaped card using a new waste-free die, with a stencilled background featuring candy canes and festive elements. The shaped edge adds visual interest whilst the stencil creates a cohesive, sparkly background.

Step by step

  1. Take a card blank with a score line and position a shaped die to overhang the top hinge. ▶ watch 1:17:45
  2. Die-cut the card to create the shaped edge. ▶ watch 1:18:00
  3. Position the stencil on the card and apply ink or sparkly paste through the stencil opening. ▶ watch 1:18:30
  4. Use the stencil to create candy cane and festive motifs around the edges of the card. ▶ watch 1:19:00
  5. Apply sparkly paste in purple or other festive colours through the stencil. ▶ watch 1:19:30
  6. Die-cut a smaller nesting die from patterned paper in the same shape as the card. ▶ watch 1:20:00
  7. Mount the patterned paper panel onto the card base. ▶ watch 1:20:30
  8. Stamp and colour gnome characters to add to the card. ▶ watch 1:21:00
  9. Position the gnome characters on the card, overlapping the background elements. ▶ watch 1:21:30
  10. Add a sentiment plaque or die-cut element at the bottom corner to complete the design. ▶ watch 1:22:00
