A sophisticated card combining a decorative corner stencil border with a stamped geisha girl focal point and cherry blossom accents. The design layers stencilled patterns with hand-painted watercolour details to create depth and visual interest.

Step by step

Prepare your card base and position the corner stencil in the desired location. ▶ watch 22:15
Apply rose and cassis inks through the stencil using a dabbing motion to create the decorative corner border. ▶ watch 22:30
Stamp the geisha girl silhouette in the centre of the card using black ink. ▶ watch 23:00
Stamp cherry blossom flowers around the geisha using rose and cassis inks for colour variation. ▶ watch 23:15
Mount the stamped focal point onto black cardstock to make it pop. ▶ watch 23:45
Attach the black-mounted focal point to the card base using foam pads for dimension. ▶ watch 24:00
Use the Miya Himi watercolour palette to paint the geisha's face with skin tone, leaving white areas for detail. ▶ watch 24:30
Add pink and purple watercolour details to the geisha's clothing and features for depth. ▶ watch 25:00
Apply glossy accents over selected flowers and details to enhance dimension and shine. ▶ watch 25:30

Tips from the show

Leave white areas in the watercolour work to preserve stamped detail and create contrast.
The semi-moist watercolour palette is translucent, so it won't cover up your stamped details like thicker watercolours might.
You can add as much or as little watercolour detail as you prefer depending on your style.
