Teal Embossed Typewriter on Black Card with Pencil Accent

Stamp the typewriter onto black card using teal embossing ink, then add subtle colour accents with oil pencils on the back of a vellum overlay. This creates a modern, sophisticated card with layered depth.

Step by step

1. Place a black card base on your work surface and position the typewriter stamp in the centre. ▶ watch 21:45
2. Apply anti-static powder to the black card. ▶ watch 22:00
3. Ink the typewriter stamp with the teal embossing ink pad. ▶ watch 22:15
4. Stamp the typewriter firmly onto the black card. ▶ watch 22:30
5. Apply clear embossing powder over the teal ink. ▶ watch 22:45
6. Heat set the embossing powder with a heat gun. ▶ watch 23:00
7. Turn a piece of vellum over and colour the back side lightly with oil pencils in teal, creating a subtle wash of colour. ▶ watch 27:45
8. Layer the coloured vellum over the embossed typewriter card, allowing the colour to show through from behind. ▶ watch 28:15

Tips from the show

• Oil pencils work beautifully on the back of vellum to create subtle colour effects that show through the translucent material.
• You can also use alcohol markers on the back of vellum for similar results.
• Colouring from behind vellum creates a soft, diffused effect rather than a bold, direct application.
