Pull-Out Shirt Card with Layered Collar and Pocket

Create a masculine card featuring a shirt design with a pull-out insert mechanism. The card has a folded collar detail, layered shirt effect, and a functional pocket on the front, perfect for Father's Day or men's occasions.

Step by step

  1. Select a piece of patterned or plain paper from your collection and cut it to 8 by 8 inches. ▶ watch 15:15
  2. Score the paper 1 inch from each long edge to create fold lines for the shirt sides. ▶ watch 17:00
  3. Fold the scored edges inward to create a shirt-like shape with visible sides. ▶ watch 17:45
  4. Cut down the centre of the folded piece approximately 3 inches to create an opening for the collar. ▶ watch 18:30
  5. Fold the cut edges back to form a shirt collar effect. ▶ watch 19:00
  6. Adhere a contrasting patterned paper to the inside of the collar to add colour and detail. ▶ watch 20:15
  7. Mount the shirt front onto a card blank, securing it with hinges along the bottom edge to allow the insert to slide in and out. ▶ watch 21:45
  8. Create a second layered shirt or jumper from contrasting paper and position it inside the first shirt opening. ▶ watch 25:00
  9. Create a small square pocket from coordinating paper and adhere it flat to the shirt front. ▶ watch 29:30
  10. Add stitching detail around the collar and shirt edges using a pen or pencil and ruler. ▶ watch 36:00
  11. Stamp a sentiment such as 'Happy Father's Day' onto the pull-out insert and position it inside the shirt pocket. ▶ watch 47:30
