A project from our live show CATCH UP on the Clash of the Stash - Watch the Crafty COLLABORATION between Toni and Sharon Curtis 30th Sept 21 · 30/09/2021
A contemporary card featuring layered panels with watercolour wash backgrounds and embossed texture details. The design combines soft, muted colours with clean lines and delicate floral and foliage embellishments for a sophisticated, textured look.
Insert a piece of white card into an embossing folder and run it through your machine to create a textured pattern down one side.
Leave the embossed panel white and set it aside.
On a second white panel, apply distress ink in crushed olive onto your mat with a little water to create a watercolour effect.
Pick up the green colour on a wet brush and apply it to the card panel.
If the colour appears too dark, spritz with water and lift some colour back off using tissue to create a muted, textured background.
Dry the watercoloured panel.
Glue both the embossed and watercoloured panels side by side onto your card base using everyday glue.
Tear a strip of vellum and glue it down one side of the card to add texture, hiding the glue underneath.
Add colour to a backing panel using distress inks in rose and chocolatey tones to coordinate with your design.
Glue the white coloured panel on top of the backing panel.
Use small adhesive pads to elevate and attach pre-cut foliage and flower elements to the card.
Watercolour the foliage pieces with distress ink in blue and green, leaving some white showing through.
Position the coloured foliage on the card, tucking elements behind other layers.
Add a white flower in the centre and embellish with a twine bow or gem in the flower centre.
Attach a washi tape sentiment to complete the card.
