Create an artistic card using a wolf head stencil as an unconventional moon shape, embossed with textured powder for dimension. This design replaces a traditional circular moon with an animal silhouette, adding visual interest and a unique focal point to your card.

Step by step

Select a patterned paper from the woodland wildlife collection as your card base. ▶ watch 46:15
Position the wolf head stencil in the upper portion of your card where a moon would typically go. ▶ watch 47:00
Stamp the wolf head interior using white pigment ink through the stencil, holding it steady. ▶ watch 47:30
Sprinkle textured embossing powder (such as ash with iridescence) onto the wet white stamped area. ▶ watch 48:30
Heat set the embossing powder with a heat gun until it melts and fuses to the ink. ▶ watch 50:00
Use a blending brush with black ink to create a subtle vignette around the edges of the card, darkening the corners. ▶ watch 50:45
Trim the card down to size using a guillotine. ▶ watch 53:00
Stamp a sentiment onto white card stock and trim it into a banner shape with pointed tails. ▶ watch 53:45
Adhere the sentiment banner to the card using tape. ▶ watch 54:30

Tips from the show

Hold the stencil very still when stamping through it to ensure crisp definition.
Don't panic if you see smoke when heat embossing white pigment ink—this is normal.
A vignette frames your work and draws the eye to the focal point without being obvious.
