Step by step

  1. Cut the detailed daffodil die from white cardstock using a die-cutting machine, placing a shim underneath for better cutting. ▶ watch 24:00
  2. Pop out all the cut pieces carefully using a craft tool, being gentle not to tear the delicate parts. ▶ watch 26:00
  3. Using a brush and light pink ink, tap colour onto the exterior petals of the white daffodil piece, focusing on the outer edges. ▶ watch 28:00
  4. Swap to a darker purple ink and tap into the centre of the flower petals to create depth and shading. ▶ watch 32:00
  5. Apply teal ink to the leaves and stem, creating darker tones at the tips and lighter tones towards the centre for a gradient effect. ▶ watch 36:00
  6. Place stencil number one over the white piece and apply light pink ink through the stencil using a brush, tapping gently. ▶ watch 39:45
  7. Layer stencil number two over the same area and apply slightly darker pink ink to add more detail and definition. ▶ watch 41:00
  8. Apply stencil number three to the flower centre and use a darker shade to build up the layered effect. ▶ watch 42:00
  9. Lightly spray the layered stencil work with water to create a soft, artistic watercolour bleed effect between the colours. ▶ watch 44:30
  10. Cut the outline die from cardstock to create the shaped card template, running it through the die-cutting machine without a shim. ▶ watch 50:30
  11. Position the outline die across the top hinge of a folded notecard so it cuts the shape but leaves the fold intact. ▶ watch 52:00
  12. Tape or glue the coloured daffodil piece onto the shaped card base to complete the design. ▶ watch 53:30
