Ethereal Love Decorated Album Cover with Layered Florals

Decorate the front cover of a white album using the Ethereal Love paper pad, die set, and embellishments. This project creates a romantic, dimensional design with fussy-cut florals, layered elements, and vellum accents that can be adapted to card bases.

Step by step

1. Layer papers from the Ethereal Love pad onto the album cover, starting with patterned background papers. ▶ watch 36:00
2. Fussy-cut a bouquet design from the paper pad, cutting carefully around the floral elements. ▶ watch 40:15
3. Fold the cut bouquet in half to create a symmetrical shape, then cut away the excess to form a unified design. ▶ watch 43:30
4. Glue the sides of the folded bouquet to create dimension and an arched effect on the cover. ▶ watch 44:00
5. Add a butterfly embellishment to the design, positioning it to complement the floral arrangement. ▶ watch 45:30
6. Layer additional patterned papers and ephemera pieces from the pad to build up the background. ▶ watch 48:15
7. Tear a piece of vellum from the Ethereal Love set and position it to frame or accent the main design. ▶ watch 50:00

Tips from the show

• The watercolour-style bleed and blend in the paper designs means imperfect fussy-cutting still looks intentional and part of the design.
• If you are indecisive about placement, do not glue elements down immediately; arrange them first and adjust until you are happy.
• Apply the same techniques to card bases if you do not have an album—the design principles work on any surface.
