A fresh, contemporary birthday card using the Best Birthday Creator Card Kit. Layer watercolour-themed toppers and embellishments on a coloured card blank to create a modern, handmade-looking card with dimension and visual interest.

Step by step

1. Select a card blank from your kit—try the green option for a contemporary look. ▶ watch 1:05:00
2. Choose a watercolour topper from your embellishments and position it as your focal point. ▶ watch 1:05:15
3. Attach foam pads to the back of your topper to raise it and create dimension. ▶ watch 1:05:45
4. Select individual embellishments such as flowers or half-tags from your kit. ▶ watch 1:06:00
5. Arrange embellishments around your main topper, using black and white swirls to break up detail. ▶ watch 1:06:30
6. Add foam pads behind smaller embellishments to layer and raise them on the card. ▶ watch 1:06:45
7. Consider adding a perfume bottle embellishment on pads for extra dimension. ▶ watch 1:07:15

Tips from the show

• You can colour in black and white uncoated embellishments yourself to add extra detail.
• The card blanks are uncoated, so you can stamp onto them if desired.
• Trust the process—elements may look blended at first, but foam pads underneath will create the finished look.
