Watercolour Aurora Borealis Card with Stamped Florals

A project from our live show Stamps By Me - Celebration Box - Wonderful Moments Class 3 · 12/01/2024 · watch it from 2:15

A stunning card featuring hand-stamped floral designs with a dreamy watercolour aurora borealis background in warm and cool tones. The design is finished with gold confetti watercolour accents and white highlights to bring the flowers to life, then mounted onto a larger card base with a black ink edge frame.

Step by step

  1. Stamp the floral design from the stamp set onto watercolour card using black hybrid ink, selecting the flowers you prefer most from the design. ▶ watch 2:30
  2. Allow the stamped ink to dry completely, then use a flat brush to wet the entire card with clean water. ▶ watch 4:15
  3. Drop orange watercolour paint into the wet paper, spotting it randomly across the surface. ▶ watch 5:30
  4. Add yellow watercolour to blend with the orange, keeping lighter colours towards the bottom to preserve the stamped detail. ▶ watch 5:45
  5. Apply teal watercolour towards the top of the card, keeping it away from the base where the lighter colours are. ▶ watch 6:45
  6. Add purple watercolour to introduce more colour depth, then activate and apply gold confetti watercolour by spraying it and dropping it into the yellow and orange areas. ▶ watch 7:45
  7. Use your finger to push the gold paint around and blend it into the watercolour, then tidy up any puddles with a clean, damp brush. ▶ watch 8:45
  8. Dry the card completely with a heat gun, then flatten it by pressing with the Eureka stamp. ▶ watch 10:30
  9. Wet a fine brush and apply white watercolour to highlight the flower petals, bringing the stamped design back to life. ▶ watch 11:45
  10. Add white detail to the top of the card with a tapped brush to create a dreamy effect, then dry again with the heat gun. ▶ watch 13:30
  11. Edge the entire card by tilting a black ink pad and running it around all four sides to create a frame effect. ▶ watch 14:30
  12. Glue the edged card onto a slightly larger craft coloured card blank to create depth and dimension with the black frame. ▶ watch 15:15
