Kiss Stencil Technique Splat and Heart Card

A project from our live show CREATE TOGETHER CLUB CHAPTER 3 - SHOW 2 - Broadcast 27th Sept 23 · 27/09/2023 · watch it from 10:15

Create a striking card using the kiss stencil technique, where two stencils are layered together and inked to create a patterned splat with a heart formation inside. The result is a multi-toned design with stars and hearts blended in teal, purple and pink tones on white cardstock.

Step by step

  1. Position the first stencil (splat formation) on your white cardstock and line it up where you want the design to sit. ▶ watch 11:30
  2. Apply ocean ink through the stencil using a stencil brush, working the colour through the openings and blending it well. ▶ watch 12:30
  3. Add Tiffany ink around the edges to create depth and blend the colours together within the splat shape. ▶ watch 13:00
  4. Layer the heart stencil on top of the splat stencil, positioning it to capture the best star formations within the heart outline. ▶ watch 13:45
  5. Apply purple ink through both stencils together, pressing firmly to ensure the colour reaches through the double-stencil layers, especially at the edges. ▶ watch 16:00
  6. Remove the heart stencil and reposition just the splat stencil to fill in remaining areas with Fandango pink ink for a two-tone effect. ▶ watch 19:00
  7. Die-cut the star and heart shapes from white cardstock using the dies included in the kit. ▶ watch 22:00
  8. Layer the die-cut pieces together, building up the star and heart elements to create dimension. ▶ watch 22:30
  9. Score four horizontal lines across the white card base using a scoring tool and guillotine to add visual interest. ▶ watch 27:30
  10. Cut the word 'Faith' from white cardstock and layer it three times with glue to create a raised embellishment. ▶ watch 34:30
  11. Adhere the layered stencilled panel to the scored card base, positioning it offset rather than centred. ▶ watch 40:30
  12. Attach the layered 'Faith' sentiment to the card, positioning it to hang off the edge of the star element. ▶ watch 41:15
