Soft Mixed Media Layered Card

A delicate mixed media card combining water, ink blending, washi tape, and layered papers. This project demonstrates soft, gentle techniques for building texture and depth without heavy embellishments.

Step by step

1. Select a card base and prepare your workspace with water and blending tools ▶ watch 36:00
2. Apply ink to the card and blend it gently with water using a brush or sponge ▶ watch 36:30
3. Tear or cut papers from the Happy Hour pad to create soft, organic edges ▶ watch 37:00
4. Layer the torn papers onto your card base, allowing some edges to overlap naturally ▶ watch 37:45
5. Add washi tape as a soft accent along the edges or between layers ▶ watch 38:30
6. Stamp a sentiment or design element onto the layered background ▶ watch 39:00
7. Add any final touches such as additional ink blending or subtle embellishments ▶ watch 40:00

Tips from the show

• Work gently and allow layers to dry slightly between applications for a soft effect
• Torn edges create a more organic, mixed media appearance than cut edges
