Quattro D Special Birthday Cake Layered Card

Create a stunning multi-layered birthday cake card using the Quattro D Special Birthday four-stage system. Layer stencilled colours, stamp details, die-cut the outline, and finish with a 3D embossed cake topper for a shop-quality card with incredible dimension.

Step by step

1. Take your first layering stencil (numbered 1) and line it up in the corner of your cardstock. ▶ watch 41:45
2. Swatch a light purple ink pad across the stencil to create the first tier of the cake. ▶ watch 42:00
3. Remove the stencil and allow the ink to dry. ▶ watch 42:15
4. Take the second layering stencil (numbered 2) and line it back up in the corner. ▶ watch 42:30
5. Press harder with the same purple ink to add depth and dimension to the second tier. ▶ watch 42:45
6. Take the third layering stencil (numbered 3) and line it up in the corner. ▶ watch 43:00
7. Swap to a pink ink and apply it to create the top tier of the cake. ▶ watch 43:15
8. Stamp the coordinating cake stamp in black ink in the centre of your layered design. ▶ watch 43:30
9. Die-cut the stamped image using the coordinating outline die. ▶ watch 44:00
10. Place the die-cut cake back into the 3D embossing folder and run it through the machine to create the final dimensional layer. ▶ watch 44:30
11. Optionally add sparkle paste or embellishments to the embossed cake topper for extra shine. ▶ watch 45:00
12. Mount the finished 3D cake topper onto your card base. ▶ watch 45:30

Tips from the show

• You can stop at any stage of the Quattro D process; you do not have to complete all four stages.
• If you only have a handful of ink pads, use the same colour and press harder with each layer to create depth.
• You can go back and add sparkle or embellishments even after the card is complete by using the stencils as masks.
