Fussy-Cut Stamped Focal Point on Shaped Card

Stamp a large, detailed image from the free members' gift stamp set onto white cardstock, then fussy-cut around it carefully. Mount the fussy-cut element onto a shaped lattice card base for a handmade, dimensional card.

Step by step

1. Stamp the large floral sentiment image from the A5 stamp set onto white cardstock using black ink. ▶ watch 44:30
2. Carefully fussy-cut around the stamped image using small scissors, leaving a small amount of white space around the design. ▶ watch 45:00
3. Prepare a shaped lattice card base by cutting it with the appropriate die. ▶ watch 46:00
4. Fold the lattice card in half to create a Slimline format if desired. ▶ watch 48:00
5. Apply a small amount of adhesive to the back of the fussy-cut image. ▶ watch 49:00
6. Position the fussy-cut focal point onto the front of the shaped card base. ▶ watch 49:30
7. Attach foam pads behind the fussy-cut element to create lift and dimension. ▶ watch 50:00
8. Add a touch of colour to the centre of the flower using a fine brush and pink ink if desired. ▶ watch 50:30

Tips from the show

• You don't need to be perfect when fussy-cutting; a slightly imperfect cut actually enhances the handmade feel.
• If you're not confident fussy-cutting by hand, you can scan and cut the stamped image using a Brother Scan and Cut machine.
• Start with light colour application; you can always add more colour but cannot remove it.
