Paper-Pieced Gown Card with Alice

Create an elegant card featuring a lady's gown using paper piecing rather than colouring. This technique allows you to achieve a beautifully detailed look by stamping onto patterned paper and cutting away sections to layer over the base image.

Step by step

1. Stamp the front and back images of the lady onto white cardstock using the stamps provided. ▶ watch 20:45
2. Stamp the same gown image onto patterned paper from your stash. ▶ watch 21:00
3. Carefully cut away the neck and head area from the patterned paper version, leaving the gown intact. ▶ watch 21:15
4. Layer the patterned gown piece on top of the white stamped version, aligning carefully. ▶ watch 21:30
5. Glue the layered gown piece onto your card base. ▶ watch 21:45
6. Add the back view of the lady to show perspective and depth on your card. ▶ watch 22:00

Tips from the show

• Paper piecing is a great shortcut to colouring if you prefer not to colour by hand.
• Choosing patterned paper that complements the gown design will enhance the final result.
