Watercolour Floral Frame with Francesca

Build a beautiful watercolour-style floral frame using the four-stencil layering system with varied ink colours. This technique creates a realistic, dimensional rose design that works perfectly as a card background.

Step by step

1. Position stencil number one on your cardstock and apply a light orange ink through it using an ink pad. ▶ watch 39:00
2. Align stencil number two using the heart registration guides and apply a slightly darker shade of the same colour. ▶ watch 39:30
3. Layer stencil number three and apply a teal or contrasting colour to the foliage areas. ▶ watch 40:00
4. Position stencil number four and press firmly with your chosen colour to create the deepest layer of the design. ▶ watch 40:30
5. Rinse all stencils under running water and allow them to dry completely. ▶ watch 41:00
6. Die-cut the frame using the coordinating exterior die, securing it with tape in your machine. ▶ watch 41:30
7. Mount the completed frame onto your card base. ▶ watch 42:00

Tips from the show

• You can use the same ink pad colour throughout all four layers and simply vary the pressure you apply to create natural-looking dimension.
• If you are not satisfied with a layer, simply place the stencil back on and apply a different colour to adjust it.
