Spring Blossom Duckling Card with Puddle Effect

Create a charming spring card featuring a duckling using the spring blossom lamination stamp set. The duckling is coloured in yellow and brown, then a blue puddle effect is added around its feet to suggest it is jumping in water.

Step by step

  1. Trim the watercolour card down to A6 size to ensure the duckling design is appropriately sized on the card. ▶ watch 53:00
  2. Position the solid portion of the spring blossom stamp in the centre of the card. ▶ watch 53:30
  3. Ink the solid stamp with yellow ink, covering the entire duckling shape. ▶ watch 54:00
  4. Add brown ink to the duckling's tummy, wings and head to create shading and texture. ▶ watch 54:15
  5. Spray the inked stamp with water to activate the watercolour effect. ▶ watch 54:45
  6. Stamp the design firmly onto the watercolour card and lift away to reveal the watercoloured duckling. ▶ watch 55:00
  7. Dry the stamped image completely. ▶ watch 55:30
  8. Clean the solid stamp and ink the detail portion with brown ink first. ▶ watch 56:00
  9. Stamp the detail portion over the dried duckling to add feather definition. ▶ watch 56:30
  10. Add black ink to the duckling's feet and eyes to make them stand out. ▶ watch 57:00
  11. Spray a small amount of blue ink around the duckling's feet to create a puddle effect suggesting it is jumping in water. ▶ watch 57:30
  12. Add a sentiment stamp such as 'A little note' to the side of the design. ▶ watch 58:00
  13. Use a wet brush or water to blend out any unwanted splodges on the watercolour card, taking advantage of the cotton content that allows blending. ▶ watch 59:00
