Classic Red Rose on White Card

Demonstrate the traditional method for creating a beautiful, realistic red rose using the Rose Branch layering stencil. This produces a stunning 3D effect with depth and dimension, showing the stencil system at its most elegant.

Step by step

  1. Clean your stencils thoroughly with a baby wipe or under running water to remove any previous ink colours. ▶ watch 25:00
  2. Place stencil number one on your white card stock, lined up at the edge. ▶ watch 27:15
  3. Ink through stencil number one with a distress red ink pad, tapping gently to apply colour. ▶ watch 27:30
  4. Position stencil number two and ink through with the same red, pressing firmly to build colour intensity. ▶ watch 29:15
  5. Apply stencil number three and ink through with red again, then add a touch of blue ink on top to create a deep burgundy shade for darker tones. ▶ watch 30:30
  6. Position stencil number four (the leaves) and ink through with green, pressing hard to achieve a rich, dark green. ▶ watch 31:30
  7. Apply stencil number five and ink through with green again, pressing firmly to complete the leaf definition. ▶ watch 32:15
  8. Allow the card to dry completely, then add a sentiment or decorative element to finish. ▶ watch 33:45
