Multicoloured Cake Lamination Card

Design a vibrant card featuring a cake stamp with multicoloured base and detailed overlay. The technique demonstrates how to layer different ink colours and add dimension with shadows.

Step by step

  1. Use the reverse side of your watercolour card or a fresh piece. ▶ watch 39:00
  2. Ink the solid cake stamp with multiple colours: teal, pink, orange and purple, covering the entire stamp. ▶ watch 40:00
  3. Spray the inked stamp three times with water. ▶ watch 40:45
  4. Press the stamp onto the watercolour card and allow the ink to settle briefly. ▶ watch 41:00
  5. Blot any puddles with a dry baby wipe. ▶ watch 41:30
  6. Use a heat gun to dry the stamped image. ▶ watch 42:00
  7. Align and stamp the detail layer in teal, stamping twice if needed for better visibility. ▶ watch 43:00
  8. Paint a shadow around the base of the cake using diluted grey paint to make it appear grounded. ▶ watch 45:15
  9. Trim the card to size and mount onto a card blank with a black ink pad edge for definition. ▶ watch 47:00
