Embossed Fairy on Black Card with White Ink

A striking black card stock design where you run an embossing folder through a machine and then tap white ink onto the raised detail to create a frosted, ethereal fairy image. The contrast makes the fairy appear to float against the dark background.

Step by step

1. Place a piece of black card stock into the embossing folder, making sure the raised side is facing up. ▶ watch 27:30
2. Run the card through your embossing machine to create the raised embossed design. ▶ watch 27:45
3. Open the folder and remove your embossed card. ▶ watch 28:00
4. Tap a white pigment ink pad gently onto the embossed design, focusing on the fairy's body, wings, and facial features. ▶ watch 28:15
5. Make sure to get ink into the corners and details, particularly around the neck and shoulders. ▶ watch 28:45
6. If you get any harsh white lines, blend them out with the ink pad to soften the effect. ▶ watch 29:00
7. Add white ink to the wings to make them sparkle and stand out. ▶ watch 29:15
8. Allow the ink to dry completely before using the card. ▶ watch 29:30

Tips from the show

• You can use a pigment ink like white soot distress ink to help blend harsh lines.
• The embossing folder can be run through multiple times with different colours to add dimension.
